Your Training/History: I've been in the food service industry for over 30 years. My culinary experience includes several four and five diamond hotels, resorts, private clubs and restaurants in Arizona and Hawaii. I also have a vast amount of experience as an Executive Chef at several of Tucson's fine dining restaurants including Daniels, The Tack Room and The Lodge at Ventana Canyon.
I was the opening chef at local favorite Pastiche, and was co-owner of two other restaurants in Tucson,
AZ Stixx and San Remo, the latter of which was given the “Silver Spoon Award,” recognizing it as one of the top 10 restaurants in Tucson. In Hawaii, Alan was the Executive Chef for Las Sirenas restaurant at the Westin Kauai and for Swan Court, which was the fine dining restaurant at the Hyatt Regency Maui.
Your Specialties: Fusing flavors is what I love to do. While living in Hawaii I fell in love with Island Cuisine and I started fusing together the Hawaiian islands and the Southwest. Fusing savory into sweet is also something that I throughly enjoy doing. Giving people different and exciting flavors to taste is what I love doing.
Why You Became a Chef: I became a chef because I love making people happy. I love giving them things to taste that they've never had before. I love playing with food and I love creating new and different things for people to enjoy. To me its all about showing my art to people. It's giving them a new experience each and every time.
Why you think you can win this event: I think I can win this event because I have the ability to give people flavors and combinations they've never had before. I can give them a great experience that will help to create memories they won't soon forget.
